Wow! What a profound statement!! Brings to perspective the very foundation of our democracy, doesn’t it! Its as if they are coming out with posters announcing how very people centric our government is. They might as well shout from the rooftops and declare that we are a dictatorship. Clears the confusion u see….

Oh I forgot to mention why this most insightful of comments was made. When master blaster Sachin confirmed that he plays for India and not Mumbai, our Maharashtrian supremo decided that it was time he put things into perspective! This gets me thinking. Sachin got away with a warning. But I’m sure if I had done the same thing, my eyes would be gouged out at the least.

In our democracy, such things are not even commented on. People have become so used to ignoring the government and vice versa, that I am amazed that kids these days still know who the Prime minister is! Not that it matters though. We know that the poor bugger doesn’t know what’s happening either.

Indian democracy is successful for this very reason. The complacency and the apathy have become so very fixed in our psyches that, we rarely care if the government is upto some god forsaken scheme or not! The only two things that provoke our interest are the budget and the voting season. Money and holidays, the two things that gets the Indians talking on their government. Of course if there is a hottie like Rahul Gandhi in the picture, maybe that too!!

I can almost hear my friends saying, “ What, the government. Who wants to talk about the government. Are you high or something??” No.. I’m not high! Jees !

Get some perspective people. Learn about your country. Learn about dissent. Just because some loony pants who is so deluded with power tells you to shut up, not necessary you should. Do! Then we can see change!

I know what you guys are thinking. Easy for her to say. She’s just sitting in some plush office and wasting their money by blogging all this rubbish. But, you know what I took the trouble to read and comment on a gross injustice in our country. What are you smart punks doing??
